This contest will follow the same rules as the one on TRP 2. The clip this time around is from the 2000 rendition of "Jesus Christ Superstar".
The clip showcases some monstorous low singing from Frederick B. Owens bottoming at some formidable C♯2's. Now the premise of the contest is to simply record a clip of YOU having a go at this song. The segment that's going to be used in the competition is between 0:19 to 0:51 and you have until 16. April to submit your clips. The winner will be selected by poll once the clips have been submitted. Good luck
It's nice to see that we have so many contestants with us. Thinking about maybe hosting multiple rounds of this if people are interested. I'll try to select a higher clip next time around since C♯2 can be a very difficult note for some people to hit.
Alright ladies and gentlemen it's time for the voting. The winner will be selected via a strawpoll, but if there are any signs of tampering or suspicious behavior the results will be thrown away and a new voting system will be acquired. Voting closes Thursday 00:00 GMT, that means the last day you have for voting is wednesday. And yes, you can vote for yourself
Well done to the top 3! Can we have a new competition set, maybe one which doesn't go so low this time? I guess Eb2 (or even E2) could still be classed as bass area (albeit quite high bass). Maybe more people can participate then, too.
Alright, here goes round 2. This time the clip in question is "As The Shadows Fall" sung by Dan Swano. This clip features some incredible bassy, resonant singing bottoming at F2. The part that's being used in the competition is from 0:00 to 0:30. Oddly enough this segment only features two lines of lyrics which can be found in the spoiler below.
I've been thinking about starting this one off again. If you have any requests for clips feel free to send them to me or post them below. Preferably I'd like them to be in the E2-G2 area so that more people can participate, but you are free to sugest any clip you'd like.
I like that Jim Reeves clip. I've pitched it a quarterstep up to make it a bit better to sing. picosong.com/wyeYK/
Lyrics: So beat the drum slowly and play the fife lowly Play the death march as you carry me along Take me to the green valley, they'll lay the sod o'er me For I'm a young cowboy and I know I've done wrong.
The rules are simple. Simply record a version of you singing that same passage yourself and post it as a response to this thread. The winner of the contest will be decided via strawpoll.
That Reeves clip is a lot harder than I was expecting. Shaping the vowels down there, and trying to keep a consistent tone across all those melody lows was very difficult/I couldn't really do it on some of the words. Probably shouldn't have recorded after singing highs all day, but you live and learn picosong.com/wyeQH/
picosong.com/wyCPw/ You are free to submit clips untill midnight to thursday GMT. If someone wants to participate, but feels like the timeframe is not particularly suited to the task feel free to send me a PM and we'll figure something out.
