A few things around here are different from TRP2. As The Long Shot mentioned (on TRP2):
There are some formatting changes that you will have to adjust for, though none of them are major in nature:
--The font sizing is on a different scale; where before you would put your color code as "size=9" or "size=10", now you will have to put it at "size=1".
--The code for bulleted and numbered lists is completely different, so I would recommend just taking the bullets out of your posts.
There are some rules to follow as well:
--If you are restarting a thread of someone else's that you have not researched for yet, but plan on researching for in future, post it in the "New/Incomplete Threads" section (a.k.a. the WIP equivalent), even if it was in Range Stuff on TRP 2.
--Yes, there will be restrictions on colors entering TRP 3. Blue, green and gray (for certain threads) are the only colors that will be allowed; red, orange, and electric fuchsia are not permissible. If you post a thread with those colors, it will be sufficiently edited.
--You are not allowed to restart threads that you were not given permission for in the "Claim Your Threads" thread. Doing so will cause that thread to be deleted.
I can't think of anything else to say at the moment, but I hope this is sufficiently clear. Let us know if you have any questions.
I haven't figured out how to do spoilers yet - can someone please tell me?
Another difference from Forummotions is that this forum displays your gender and birth month under your avatar by default, but if you prefer not to display this information, Profile > Edit Profile > Privacy has visibility options for these data.
The spoiler tags haven't changed, I don't think. The spoilers do look different and they don't show up when viewing the thread in the preview window, but otherwise their functionality shouldn't have altered.
Thanks - I didn't realise it's just the preview that's broken. I thought if I clicked the Post button it would show a load of unhidden videos and shit then Holsety would eat me or something Spoilers don't work the same as TRP2 though: it doesn't replace the "spoiler" text with a chosen heading (I don't know if that can be done, but the coding we're used to doesn't do it).
I addressed all of the formatting issues in a thread I stickied in the new Range Stuff area. I also mentioned a few things in the off-topic subforum about the display name and removing the birthday and gender from the mini-profile.
Put your cursor over The Range Place tab in the top left corner, but don't click. Then put your cursor over "General Discussion" in the box that opens, again not clicking. Do the same with "Off-Topic", putting your cursor over it without clicking. A box should appear with "Deranged Place". Click on that. Alternatively, here is a link therangeplace.boards.net/board/11/deranged
Is there any way to customise search options? I've started including nationalities and associated acts in my thread details. It would be neat if a visitor could search for singers from their country.
You should be able to search for text within posts, but unfortunately the search function is currently not working properly, and often failing to find even text in thread titles (such as singers' names). We're not sure why this is: it did work before so we're hoping it will be fixed soon, but in the meantime I would advise any readers looking for particular singer threads to consult the Singer Index which I'm about to update. Please note, however, that new threads are frequently added so the Index might not always include the most recent threads.
Maybe something like junior/senior "notewatcher" or, further along "rangewatcher"? I thought it seemed a bit odd as well, to be honest. At the very least, we could come up with punny titles relating to popular singers on the forum
If a lot of people love each other, the world will be a better place to live.
