The usual drill as with any other singing thread: My voice type is obvious to anyone but me and my vocal range is everything you hear in the covers on this thread.
I recently applied for a karaoke contest in my local area with a recorded cover of Tony Bennett's "Don't Get Around Much Anymore", so I thought I'd share it here since it's every once in a blue moon that I actually save a cover of mine like this, and if I'm comfortable enough sending it as an application I'm comfortable enough to share it here. Apologies for the rather abrasive karaoke backing track, I didn't edit it or anything so it's just me and my rather sub-par Rode NT-USB microphone doing the work, I figured I'd just share a bit of my voice since apparently some people are interested in it.
Apologies for the backing karaoke vocalist, there weren't any other versions with this kind of laid-back instrumentation which suited croony, as opposed to boomy, lows. I edited this one a bit with some amplification and reverb in order to not sound too stripped-down.
This is shaping up to be more fun than I expected.
I first heard Donald Fagen's voice on this song in Guitar Hero: World Tour and I always wanted to sing this song because I thought mimicking the sound was fun, even though I hadn't really begun my full-on vocal exploits yet, so I basically owe my mixed voice to this song. The quality is obviously not Steely Dan-worthy production value, but I tried to make the karaoke mix as smooth as possible.
Seriously though, the sustain on that last note was excellent and really consistent throughout its duration. Personally I'd maybe be a bit more sparing with the vibrato (not to criticize your stylistic choice ofc, if that's your bit then you do you ), and I couldn't tell if some of the differing pitch choices were intentional variations or not, but either way it's good shit that you should be proud of.
