Ever since popular music came to pass, musicians have been receiving titles that encapsulate their grandeur into only a few words (i.e Michael Jackson, The King Of Pop). And recently, quite a number of people have been debating the title of this generation's "King Of R&B" across the internet. This raises the question, who do you consider to be the reigning King, Queen, Prince, and/or Princess of a genre (about 2010 - Present)? Pop, R&B, Rap, Rock, etc.
King of Pop - MJ Queen of Pop - Either Beyonce or Madonna (Bey >>> 'Donna as far as personal tastes go) Prince of Pop - Princ- hmm a hard one... I used to think Justin Timberlake but with the recent releases? I'm starting to go a bit 'eh' on it Biebs is a good contender as well. Princess of Pop - Ariana, no contest
King of R&B - Seriously speaking, R. Kelly would be a strong contender had he not gotten himself immersed in so many scandals and bullshit, he's quickly turning irrelevant because of this so the title will go to someone else. Miguel? He's good but some people are truly conflating his impact IMO. Chris Brown, The Weeknd (more like a prince in his case?) and Usher would be the true contenders here
madonna wouldn't really be viable for queen of pop for this generation tbh, i'd definitely give bey her position though. the ariana plug is also acceptable. i would think Bieber would be a more viable candidate for now than Timberlake, even though he's pretty controversial among music fans.
What about Mariah,Lady Gaga,Xtina,Rihanna,Katy Perry Bruno Mars, The Weeknd,Chris Brown,Ed Sheeran,Justin Bieber and are all eligible candidates Prince of RnB: Usher,Ne-Yo,Frank Ocean,Justin Timberlake Nicole Scherzinger and Jessie J would also make brilliant Queen/Princess of pop contenders, IMHO
