Hi. Im 25, trying teach myself to sing for about 1 year. I dont like my tone (think its very muddy and lifeless), my pitch isnt 100% correct quite often. Im trying to do vocal warmups almost everyday and sing songs. Currently im struggling to sing above E4 and can sing to like F#2 lows. Could you guys please listen to these recording and give me some advice? Watch out: these recordings may not be pleasant to listen to .
Really nice voice. If you wanna be able to sing higher you will have to start exploring both sides of your voice up there. Try ascending and raising your voice, something like controlled yell and see how far you can take it without distortion and without too much tension (there should be no tension once the technique is developed but at the beginnings it can be expected to have some). And also try ascending and switching into that head voice and try doing it as smooth and as relaxed as possible - start in very light chest voice and ascend (flip happens around A3 probably). Once you can do a smooth transition on light coordination and you can also stay in that yell mode up to probably G#4 you can start closing the gap between these two approaches - so making the light one heavier and heavier and making the yelly one lighter and lighter. The gap will be getting closer and closer and it will eventually vanish. However it will probably take months.
